Remembering those who have made the ultimate sacrifice
This Remembrance Day, we take time to reflect on and pay our respects to those who have fallen in service to their country. Many of you have lost friends and family members, and I join you in pausing to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
I want to take this opportunity to express appreciation to those who have worn the uniform for allied nations around the world and to the families who support them. More than 7,200 Leidos employees — 22 percent of our workforce — are military veterans. Since the beginning of the year, we have hired 1,700 veterans as part of Operation MVP, our companywide outreach program to hire, train, and support veterans in the workforce. The expertise and leadership our veteran colleagues bring to our company is critical to our mission of making the world safer, healthier, and more efficient.
Our annual campaign, Heroes of Leidos, gives a public voice to men and women in our company who wore the uniform. I hope you will take some time to learn about some of our veteran colleagues and reflect on their unique experiences.
Like many of you, I will be observing a moment of silence to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Let us never forget those who perished to protect our way of life and the global fight for freedom.
