Ameren Illinois and Focus on Energy Programs Receive Awards for Outstanding Energy Efficiency Efforts
The Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (MEEA) celebrates accomplishments in energy efficiency at its annual conference in Chicago each February. MEEA, a collaborative network advancing energy efficiency across a 13-state region, recognizes outstanding program implementation and initiatives through its “Inspiring Efficiency Awards” every year. In 2019, Leidos and its clients Ameren Illinois and Focus on Energy have been recognized with awards for exemplary program implementation in the Education and Innovation categories. In addition, Ameren Illinois President Richard Mark has received the Leadership award for his visionary efforts with low- and moderate-income customers.
EDUCATION AWARD – AMEREN ILLINOIS
The Inspiring Efficiency through Education Award is presented to an organization that has developed and implemented an educational campaign, program, or strategy to increase knowledge and action on energy efficiency.
Ameren Illinois' Program Allies are the secret behind the success of its Energy Efficiency Program. These specially trained contractors help customers access Ameren Illinois incentives to implement energy-saving measures. Each year, Ameren Illinois and Leidos change the lives of 18 students through the Ameren Illinois Opportunities Scholarship Program, which helps train and financially support the next generation of workers in energy-efficient Construction Management and HVAC. The scholarship program continues to show Ameren Illinois’ commitment to creating diverse, skilled labor professionals through its Program Ally network and building a well-trained, energy efficiency workforce to meet customer needs.
INNOVATION AWARD – FOCUS ON ENERGY
The Inspiring Efficiency through Innovation Award is presented to an organization that has developed and implemented a new and innovative program or policy in the Midwest that has generated significant energy efficiency impacts.
Led by the Leidos team, Focus on Energy’s Strategic Energy Management (SEM) Leaders Initiative has laid the foundation for SEM as an ongoing offering to the next wave of Wisconsin customers who are ready and committed to improving their energy performance. Since launching the initiative in 2015, Leidos has helped to redefine regression modeling techniques and presentation formats, adjust customer engagement and coaching principles, and challenge program reporting and evaluating assumptions. Today, there are 27 participants in the program, with 14 on track to achieve the highly coveted ISO 50001 status.
LEADERSHIP AWARD – RICHARD MARK, AMEREN ILLINOIS
The Inspiring Leadership in Energy Efficiency Award is presented to the organization or individual who has served as a strong leader in support of energy efficiency in their city, state, region, company, or community.
Under Richard Mark's leadership, Ameren Illinois is implementing a ground-breaking initiative to open-up access to energy efficiency programs for moderate-to-low income customers. This effort, which Mark calls "Energy Efficiency for All," is funding critical workforce development and training programs and investing nearly $12 million to increase jobs by expanding the number of diverse-owned businesses, which deliver energy efficiency services. In addition, more than $20 million is being utilized to assist in the weatherization of homes for customers in historically underserved communities.
