Honoring Martin Luther King Jr.
With Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, we pause to reflect on this great American’s profound and enduring legacy. Dr. King's life was a testament to the power of ideas, righteousness, service, and the relentless, peaceful toil for justice.
On April 3, 1968, the day before his assassination, Dr. King delivered a speech entitled, ‘I’ve Been to the Mountaintop,’ calling for unity and challenging the country to live up to its ideals. In it, he said, “We need all of you,” and that sentiment is as important today as it was 55 years ago.
I encourage you to spend Martin Luther King, Jr. Day as a ‘day on, not off.’ Find a way to make a difference, to be a catalyst for meaningful change in the communities where we live and work, and to embody Dr. King’s vision of a world in which we all “Stand with greater determination.”
As in years past, Leidos will be sponsoring the Volunteer Fairfax MLK, Jr. Weekend of Service 2024, which provides virtual and in-person opportunities to reflect, volunteer, give back, and learn.
It’s humbling to see the myriad ways in which Leidos employees serve our communities and champion diversity, equity, and inclusion. Those values are at the heart of Dr. King’s legacy and remain core to who we are at Leidos.
