Honoring Martin Luther King Jr.
On Monday, as we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we reflect on his achievements, the ongoing fight for racial equality, and his brave leadership in America’s civil rights movement. Dr. King was the voice of hope, an advocate for those who suffered injustice for far too long, and committed his life to lasting change. His tireless efforts undoubtedly changed the trajectory of our country’s history.
More than 50 years have passed since Dr. King’s untimely death, and while we have seen progress, we also recognize there is still much more to do to achieve his dream. His enduring legacy challenges us to promote equality for all and engage each other with compassion and empathy. Within our company, and more broadly in our communities, it’s up to each of us to mitigate the impacts of bias, combat racism, and make efforts to live out the ideals Dr. King stood for.
In honor of Dr. King’s life and legacy, Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a National Day of Service intended to promote volunteerism across the country. Locally, Leidos is proudly partnering again with Volunteer Fairfax’s Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend of Service. Many of the activities are fully virtual for those seeking a safe, meaningful opportunity to give back.
This holiday weekend, I encourage each of you to reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and example of Dr. King and commit to serving in your communities. Together, we can make the world a kinder, more inclusive place.
