Our latest #innovidual is Dr. Pat Martin, a Senior Scientist at the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research. Dr. Martin is part of a team exploring curative therapies for HIV patients.
Human leukocyte antigen (HLA) molecules are an important part of the human genome and affect the body's immune system response. In a recent study, Dr. Martin and her colleagues discovered that higher levels of the HLA molecule HLA-A result in poorer control of HIV. Their findings were published in the journal Science and are summarized in our video below.
