This month’s #innovidual is Rowland Max-Lino, Chief Engineer for Leidos UK/Europe's Civil, Defence and Health division.
Tell us a little about your job role and responsibilities, and/or something you’re currently working on.
“My current role as Chief Engineer provides technical leadership, oversight, coordination, guidance and governance for all engineering and technical capabilities in my geographic area. My key responsibilities are to provide technical capability to the business and ensure that these capabilities are delivered in line with business goals.”
Why is innovation important in your role?
“Encouraging and fostering an innovative culture is critical in my role; it reassures our customers that we can meet their business objectives and ensures that they realize the benefits of those objectives. In an ever-transforming world of technology, I believe technology in some form will continue to enable innovation. As such, fostering an innovative culture within our employees is vital to me.”

“Innovation is creative thinking enabled by impeccable technology solutions.”
What does innovation look like? Any recent examples from your job?
“When a client brings to us their challenges, we take the time required to understand the root of the challenge, outcomes the customer desires then proceed with ways to help meet those objects by transforming business processes, introduce new and/or improved capabilities, products and/or services to achieve higher productivity and efficiencies that in turn address those challenges.”
