LCST programme's innovative platform enables military supply chain of the future
In 2015, Leidos was awarded the Logistics Commodities and Services Transformation contract from the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD). The 13-year, £6.7 billion contract will transform the UK’s defence supply chain.
Leidos has established the Logistics Commodities and Services Transformation (LCST) programme, which to date has delivered more than £1 billion of products to the UK Military using cutting-edge procurement techniques and strong governance.
The programme has delivered transformative digital IT services including the innovative Supply Chain Integration Platform (SCIP). SCIP takes the "best of breed" information technology from online retail, and combines it with the security expertise that Leidos has developed in 50 years of working with the military.
SCIP IT services has the capacity and breadth to run the smarter military supply chain of the future. When an order is placed through an e-catalogue, it is SCIP which facilitates the order orchestration and management. SCIP verifies the user identity, obtains financial authorisation, checks the availability of the product, and initiates the ordering of more stock if the order brings supplies below the required threshold. SCIP can then arrange transportation and inform the user when to expect delivery or make items available for collection.
Team Leidos has created IT services for the MOD that are robust, scalable, and built for future exploitation. SCIP includes:
-
Procurement and supply
-
Inventory management
-
Centralised storage
-
Dynamic transportation management
-
e-catalogue and identity management
-
Online portal
-
Financial management
-
Advanced analytics
-
Central supply chain orchestration
SCIP can provide the technical transformation to enable a huge reduction in demand processing time, all scalable through cloud technology.
