Common Driver Trainer (CDT) Virtual Simulators

Our ground simulators provide efficient, cost-effective, flexible, measurable and trackable simulation training for students and crew member collective training.

Effective driver training on military vehicles is essential for battlefield mobility, mission coordination, survivability, and success. Leidos has developed a product line of virtual individual and crew trainers based on a common architecture of hardware and software components. This architecture enables the rapid development and fielding of Common Driver Trainer (CDT) variants and can easily be expanded to support a wide variety of international military vehicles.

The major components of the CDT system include:

  • Student Training Station (STS), comprised of a motion platform, video display system and driver compartment (the vehicle cab)
  • Instructor/Operator Station (IOS)
  • After Action Review (AAR) station

All CDT cabs are interchangeable on the STS, increasing the scope of training that can be supported by the CDT system.


Applications

Our ground simulators provide efficient, cost-effective, flexible, measurable and trackable simulation training for students and crew member collective training on a wide variety of tracked and wheeled vehicles. The CDT Variants provides training on critical driving tasks associated with a particular military vehicle in diverse environments, times of day, and weather conditions with more than 100 cutting-edge, operationally relevant scenarios.


Features

  • Provides either a six- and three- degrees of freedom (DOF) CDT platform motion base which delivers a realistic feel drive, and motion cues to students as they execute various driver training scenarios
  • Delivers a high-fidelity visual system to present a broad range of synthetic environments including geo-typical and geo-specific terrain databases
  • Includes preprogrammed, low, medium and/or high-fidelity scenarios based on the particular simulator model including training on unique driving skills, such as loading and unloading ships, airplanes, railcars, and heavy equipment transporters
  • Provides a scenario generation system (SGS) that allows users to create their own scenarios to train on tactics, techniques, and procedures as the operational environment evolves
  • Includes automatic student scoring, replay and after-action review, and training record management
  • Links to other air and ground simulators through U.S. Army's One Semi-Automated Force (OneSAF®)
  • Fully integrates into live, virtual and constructive battlespace for joint training exercises
  • Provides system customization available
