Leidos Featured Veteran: Krystal Porter
Captain Krystal Porter's journey began in the city of Chicago, Illinois, where she embarked on a path that transformed an Army ROTC contract into a remarkable and highly respected career in the realm of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Hailing from the Windy City, Ms. Porter pursued her education at the University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC), specializing in Finance with a keen focus on International Business. During her time at UIC, she concurrently served as a dedicated cadet in the US Army ROTC program at the university.
With a commitment to both her education and military service, Ms. Porter began her career as a Systems Administrator at Leidos, tackling some of the world's most complex challenges across defense, intelligence, civil, and healthcare sectors. Her journey within the organization has been nothing short of remarkable, culminating in her current role as the Chief of Staff for the Defense Group Chief Technology Officer at Leidos.
Beyond her distinguished military service and demanding career, Ms. Porter embodies the spirit of giving back. She generously dedicates her time and expertise to organizations striving to foster accessibility to STEM careers for historically underrepresented groups. As a mentor, she shares her wealth of knowledge with initiatives like WISE, Black Girls Do STEM, and STEM City USA, where she proudly stands as one of the twelve founders, leaving an indelible mark on the world of STEM education and empowerment.
