Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. is the current operations and technical support contractor for the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research, one of about 40 Federally Funded Research and Development Centers and the only one focused exclusively on biomedical research. The Frederick National Laboratory is dedicated to improving human health through discovery and innovation in the biomedical sciences, focusing on cancer, AIDS, and emerging infectious diseases.
Frederick National Laboratory scientists conduct investigator-initiated, hypothesis-driven research and have expertise in genetics, genomics, protein science, proteomics, bioinformatics, high-performance biomedical computing, and clinical operations.
The national laboratory is the anchor of the National Cancer Institute’s RAS Initiative, an intensive project that aims to understand a mutant protein implicated in one-third of cancers.
As a shared national resource, FNL offers access to a suite of advanced biomedical technologies, including nanotechnology characterization and cryo-electron microscopy.

FNL staff maintain vast repositories of research materials available to biomedical investigators nationwide, including millions of biological specimens, frozen tumor samples, and research reagents.
The national laboratory is home to two Current Good Manufacturing Practice facilities, where staff produce pharmaceuticals for human clinical trials, supporting drug discovery and development. FNL employees monitor hundreds of ongoing human clinical trials in the United States and overseas.
Staff provide administrative, procurement, financial, safety, and facilities support to the national laboratory through state-of-the-art business processes. FNL is supported by more than 2,000 employees and has an annual operating budget in excess of $900M.

We offer a variety of programs from which employees can choose, including medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, free basic life with AD&D and optional supplemental employee life. We also offer a suite of supplemental insurances as well as pet insurance. There is also a high deductible medical plan option with a Health Savings Account.

Eligible employees accrue vacation and sick leave each pay period. Accrual rates vary, based on status and years of service with the company. Benefits start immediately upon hire for all plans. There is no waiting period. Full-time employees are eligible for 10 paid holidays during the year. Part-time employees receive holiday pay proportionate to their regularly scheduled workweek.

Leidos Biomedical Research offers employees the opportunity to participate in a 401(k) plan with an employer matching contribution. Employees can save up to 50% of their salary on a before-tax basis or as ROTH contributions (subject to IRC savings and compliance limits). There is a company matching contribution of 50% on the employee’s first 6% of contributions.

The Flex plan allows employees to pay non-covered health (medical/dental/vision) and dependent care expenses with pre-tax dollars. Employees may defer up to $2,650 on a pre-tax basis to pay for health care expenses and $5,000 on a pre-tax basis to pay for dependent daycare expenses. A Qualified Transportation Account is also offered.
