Logistics Commodities & Services Transformation (LCST) Programme
Developing an end-to-end supply chain for LCST commodity items that delivers savings to the MOD
Commodity Support Services (CSS) manages c.600 suppliers and c.45,000 active commodity items being delivered both into LCST warehouses or direct to the Front Line Command customer.
CSS manage the following commodity areas:
- Medical - Servicing consumables, equipment and pharmaceuticals across deployed and static Front Line Commands.
- Food - Contracts to service world-wide activity including rations and deployable food services.
- General Supplies - Provision of over 16,000 NSNs covering everyday domestic items from fasteners to paint, flags to insecticides, cleaning products to rope and electrical components to chemicals. GS also manage the provision of batteries and oils, lubricants & gases.
- Clothing - Responsible for the development, acquisition, through-life management and disposal of 20,000 items covering clothing provisions for ceremonial and accoutrements, sleeping systems, parade wear, footwear and combat clothing for the UK armed forces and MOD agencies.

Commodity Management
What to Buy: Responsible for understanding and refining the customer requirement and for production identification.

Inventory and Equipment Management
When to Buy: responsible for demand planning, stock optimisation, obsolescence management, excess stock identification, disposal recommendations and equipment management & through-life support.

Category Management
How to Buy: Responsible for category strategy maintenance, commercial specification development, supply source management, purchase request management and inbound material control activities.
