Tom Bell is Chief Executive Officer of Leidos. With approximately $16.7 billion in annual revenue and 47,000 employees worldwide, Leidos is a global leader in solving complex challenges across the defense, intelligence, homeland security, civil and health markets. With a customer-focused, innovative approach, Bell’s strategic vision emphasizes healthy growth while advancing the company’s overall strategy.
Before becoming CEO in May 2023, Bell held leadership roles across prominent aerospace organizations for nearly 40 years. He previously served as president of Rolls-Royce Defense, where he led a global team of 10,000 professionals providing power, propulsion and service solutions for aerospace, naval and nuclear submarine applications to customers in more than 100 countries. In addition, Bell was chairman and CEO of Rolls-Royce North America Inc., overseeing North American business operations and U.S.-based employees, facilities and customers.
Bell began his career at Martin Marietta, now Lockheed Martin, in human spaceflight. He later joined McDonnell Douglas, now Boeing, and held roles in manufacturing engineering, contracts and pricing, sales and marketing and program management. He became senior vice president of global sales and marketing for Boeing Defense, Space and Security, securing major wins in aircraft, rotorcraft, services, space, missile systems and satellites. Bell also served as strategy lead for Boeing Defense and Space, where he was responsible for research and development prioritization, merger and acquisition strategy and market analysis. Other roles at Boeing included living and working in Helsinki and serving as president of U.K. operations.
Bell earned a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University and a master’s degree in business administration from the Florida Institute of Technology. He serves on the executive committee of the Aerospace Industries Association.
