Exploranium® SRPM-210 Advanced Radiation Portal Monitor

Exploranium SRPM-210

Next-generation radiation detection and classification for vehicles and cargo.

The Exploranium SRPM-210 advanced radiation portal monitor (RPM) uses our unique passive scanning technology to detect, locate and classify nuclear material in cargo containers, trucks and other vehicles in the normal flow of checkpoint traffic. By automatically distinguishing potential threats from benign material, the system can significantly reduce the need for costly secondary inspections.

Download Overview

The SRPM-210 combines economical polyvinyl toluene (PVT) gamma detectors, a state-of-the-art digital spectrometer and an innovative threat-analysis algorithm to provide threat detection and classification capabilities at a fraction of the cost of spectroscopic systems.

The SRPM-210 is highly sensitive to potentially dangerous special nuclear material (SNM), even when shielded or masked by naturally occurring radioactive material (NORM), and effectively distinguishes SNM from NORM and medical and industrial isotopes. The system also classifies the radioisotopes in the vehicle as NORM, SNM, Medical or Industrial. These features enable authorities to clear more vehicles in primary inspection, significantly reducing the need for secondary inspection.

The SRPM-210 can scan hundreds of vehicles per hour while meeting the applicable portions of the challenging ANSI N42.35-2006 performance standard - all with a very low false alarm rate. The system also graphically displays the location of radioactive sources in the scanned vehicle to help inspectors search the vehicle in secondary inspection. With these features, the system can greatly expedite the entire inspection process.

The SRPM-210 includes an innovative technology that blanks radiation from pulsed x ray scanning systems, enabling the SRPM 210 to operate just a few meters from these scanning systems without false alarms.

The SRPM-210 uses the same PVT gamma detectors and many other components as our widely deployed AT 980 RPM, and has the same footprint, form factor and infrastructure. As a result, existing AT-980 systems can be upgraded to SRPM-210 in the field quickly and easily, and new SRPM-210 systems can be added easily to existing networked AT-980 installations.

Leidos is a world leader in radiation detection technology, with thousands of installations for government and commercial clients around the world. our world-class maintenance, training and technical support are available with every Exploranium system.

Exploranium® AT-980 Radiation Portal Monitor (RPM)

Exploranium AT-980

The AT-980 RPM is a fixed radiation-scanning portal that detects and locates radioactive material in trucks, containers and railcars.

The AT-980 radiation portal monitor (RPM) uses advanced passive scanning technology to detect and locate illicit nuclear material in cargo containers, trucks, and other vehicles in the normal flow of checkpoint traffic.

Download Overview

With its powerful yet economical detector technology, the AT-980 RPM can sense extremely low levels of gamma and neutron radiation in a single scan. Combining this outstanding performance with high throughput and safe, efficient operation, the AT-980 RPM is ideal for border crossings, ports, and other transit facilities.

The AT-980 RPM's safe, passive (non-emitting) scanning technology scans vehicles in the typical flow of checkpoint traffic without requiring them to stop or occupants to exit, permitting extremely high throughput. The system uses powerful yet economical detectors, sophisticated analysis techniques, and low-noise signal processing to provide enhanced sensitivity to low level sources, meeting applicable portions of the challenging ANSI N42.35-2006 standard. The AT-980 is highly sensitivity to radioactive threats, yet rejects naturally occurring radioactive materials, achieving a false alarm rate better than 1:10,000. And, like previous Exploranium products, the AT-980 is easy to use and operator-friendly.

Leidos is a world leader in radiation detection technology, with thousands of installations for government and commercial clients around the world. Every system is available with our dedicated installation, training, maintenance, and technical support.

Exploranium® GR-135 Plus "Identifier" Radioisotope Identification Device

Exploranium GR-135

Sensitive, accurate radiation detection and nuclide identification, in a rugged handheld system for use in the field.

The GR-135 Plus "Identifier" quickly and accurately detects and identify gamma and neutron sources in the field despite rugged terrain, harsh weather and other difficult conditions. Lightweight and rugged, the GR-135 Plus is easy to carry and use, even in tough real-world scenarios.

Lift the GR-135 Plus from its docking station and it's active in survey mode. The large, backlit display shows real-time count, count rate and dose rate in numeric and graphic format, with audio feedback for eyes-free operation. Press the joystick on the handle at any time to identify isotopes. Store thousands of time-stamped readings for later analysis. And simply return the GR-135 Plus to its docking station to recharge, recalibrate, and upload stored readings.

The GR-135 Plus is specially designed to identify special nuclear material (SNM). With its sophisticated analysis techniques, the GR-135 Plus can identify a variety of SNM isotopes despite low levels or masking.

Download Overview

The GR-135 Plus uses a variety of sophisticated techniques to accurately detect and identify nuclides, including a 1,024-channel high-resolution analyzer; stabilized, thermally corrected gain; and pulse pile-up rejection to reduce errors at high count rates. Users can define energy ranges to search for specific nuclides. The unit includes four predefined nuclide libraries, and Leidos can provide custom libraries for specific applications.

The unit is easy to carry and use in one hand using the thumb joystick. Typical operations are simple and automatic. The large, backlit LCD display features auto-scaling and zoom for graphs, and can display text in many languages. Audio feedback lets users search without watching the unit. Advanced users can customize alarm levels and other parameters for specific applications.

The GR-135 Plus can store thousands of time-stamped readings in non-volatile memory. Users can quickly replay and re-analyze stored readings on the unit. In its docking station, the unit can upload stored data to standard workstations for more detailed analysis using the powerful IdentiVIEW application, and for transmission and archiving.

The rugged GR-135 Plus stands up to temperature, dirt and moisture in harsh conditions and withstands the typical shock and vibration of use in the field. Our annual performance service provides testing, calibration, adjustment, software upgrades and more to keep the unit operating at its best.

Leidos has provided thousands of radiation detection systems for security, emergency and military applications around the world. The GR-135 system is available with our global training, maintenance and technical support.

Exploranium® ST-20 Spectroscopic Radiation Portal Monitor

The ST-20 RPM is a fixed spectroscopic radiation-scanning portal that detects, locates and identifies radioactive material in trucks, containers and railcars. ST-20 RPM detects and identifies nuclear material in trucks, containers, railcars and other vehicles in the normal flow of traffic — meeting or exceeding challenging ANSI performance standards. Combining outstanding performance with high throughput, the ST-20 is a powerful, practical scanning solution for busy cargo facilities.

Download Overview

The ST-20 RPM can sense extremely low levels of gamma and neutron radiation, with a false-alarm rate better than 1:10,000. In compliance with the ANSI N42.38-2006 standard, the ST-20 RPM can identify a wide variety of nuclides — including materials that could be used in a nuclear weapon or "dirty bomb," even when they are heavily shielded or masked.

To help keep traffic flowing, the ST-20 RPM can scan vehicles in the normal flow of traffic at gates or other checkpoints. A single ST-20 supervisor workstation can control up to 32 RPMs. Easy-to-use operator software provides alarms, scanning displays, radiation measurements, vehicle images and more. Scanning data and images are integrated in the system database for easy access.

The ST-20 RPM can greatly reduce manual inspections by distinguishing potential weapon material from likely benign sources, and can speed up manual inspections by showing the location of radioactive sources within the vehicle.

Leidos is a world leader in RPM technology, with over 5,000 installations for government and commercial clients around the world. Every RPM is backed by our dedicated installation, training, maintenance and technical support.
