Our Recruitment Process
Our recruitment process is designed to be engaging and transparent. It begins with an online application, followed by activities to help us get to know each other - including interviews for all roles and, for some positions, scenario-based or skill-based assessments - and the process concludes with the necessary background checks. Your Talent Acquisition team member will lay out the specific process for the role at the beginning of the recruitment process.
We encourage talented people from all backgrounds, abilities and identities to apply for our vacancies. Don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes – if you meet most of them, we encourage you to submit your application. We’re most interested in your strengths, what you want to learn and how far you want to go.
-
When you find a role you would like to apply for, you need to apply online. You’ll be asked to upload your CV and answer a number of questions to complete the application. Once you hit submit you’ll receive a notification to let you know that your application is with our Talent Acquisition team.
Around 80% of our roles require some level of *security clearance and the job advert will clearly state any security clearance requirements for a role.

Pro Tips:
- Tailor your application to the role you’re applying for. Put yourself in the shoes of the Hiring Manager. Think about what they are looking for and therefore what you can highlight about your own skills and experience. A covering letter can be a great way to instantly sign post why you are a great candidate for this role.
- Be thoughtful about the length of your resume. Bigger is often not better when it comes to CVs. How can you tell a concise and compelling story rather than including everything you’ve ever done?
-
This is the second phase of the process. Once resumes have been reviewed by the Hiring team, a shortlist of candidates is developed and a conversation is scheduled between the candidate and the Talent Acquisition team member for the role. This conversation helps add a little colour and depth to your application.
Pro Tips:
- Think about the questions you’d like answered in this conversation.
- Make sure you take this call in an appropriate environment – quiet, with no distractions.
-
You’ve made it to interview! We believe that a great interview process is mutually beneficial - we get to know you and you get to know us - so there may well be more than one interview. They make also take different formats, and for some roles practical assessment activities may be involved. Whatever the interview and assessment process for the role, your Talent Acquisition team member will make sure you know what to expect.
Pro Tips:
- Do your research! The more you know about our business, the role and our customers, the more you can focus on what the Hiring Manager will be interested in.
- Prepare your examples and use specifics. What sort of skills will the interviewer be looking for? Be prepared to talk about examples that clearly demonstrate your skills.
-
By now we hope you’re as keen as we are. You receive the phone call you’ve been waiting for - the verbal offer - the role is yours. Now the formalities of the paperwork and pre-employment checks (eg police check, security clearance validation etc) need to happen before your first day and the beginning of your career with Leidos Australia.

Welcome to the team! Your new People Leader and team mates will make sure you hit the ground running.
