Leidos officially opens South Australian office
Leidos has officially opened its state-of-the-art Adelaide office, following a refit to support local engineering and aircraft operations activities, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to enhancing its South Australia presence. This new facility is home to 100 highly skilled technicians and support employees that deliver specialised aviation services and capability for the Australian Government, as well as employees undertaking a range of Defence C4ISR activities in support of Defence.
In 2022, Leidos established a significant presence in South Australia when it acquired the division of Cobham Aviation Services that conducts special mission flying for the Australian Government, formerly Cobham Special Mission.
The cutting-edge office fitout boasts customised workspaces designed to align with Leidos' dynamic workspace needs, fostering a productive and innovative environment for its team. Importantly, the newly configured office provides an opportunity to increase Leidos’ South Australian workforce. As a headquarters for Leidos’ aviation operations, the site manages engagement with over 200 domestic suppliers providing design, manufacturing and prototyping capabilities.
“Leidos’ South Australian team members conduct work of national significance and play a pivotal role in saving lives and protecting Australia’s interests,” said Leidos Australia chief executive Paul Chase.
“This investment reflects Leidos’ commitment to South Australia and the opportunities we see for growth in this State, including our aviation operations and other defence projects we are pursuing.
“We are looking forward to further expanding our partnerships and engaging with local small and medium enterprises as we continue to build sovereign capability in mission systems and integrated data management systems that are not only applicable to air platforms, but also maritime,” he said.
“Leidos’ presence in South Australia brings a unique aerospace and data integration capability, which will only further enhance our thriving defence sector,” said Minister for Defence and Space Industries the Hon Stephen Mullighan.
Leidos specialises in digital modernisation, cyber-security, mission software and complex systems and data integration projects, for Government across Defence, Aviation and Civil sectors. South Australia is home to Leidos’ Airborne Solutions headquarters, where the team oversee and manage a fleet of turboprop and jet aircraft, and a combined workforce of 300 pilots, mission aircrew and maintenance engineers across Australia.
South Australia is also home to Leidos’ Systems Integration Lab, where mission system technicians collaborate with local SMEs, prototype and test aircraft mission management system hardware, software, equipment and wiring integration for mission support and ISR operations.
With the official opening of its South Australian office, Leidos is poised to lead the way in specialist aviation services and mission systems integration, driving innovation and growth in the region.
