Leidos UK Sponsors Army Rugby Union and Army Rugby League

(London, UK) April 17, 2023 - Leidos UK today announced new sponsorship agreements with the Army Rugby Union (ARU) and Army Rugby League (ARL) through the 2023-25 seasons. The agreements bolster the company’s long history of supporting the military through logistics services, employment of veterans, community initiatives and supporting military sports.

“Leidos is immensely proud to employ our military veterans,” said Simon Fovargue, Chief Executive, Leidos UK and Europe. “We’re pleased to announce these new sponsorships with the Army Rugby Union and Army Rugby League, both of which deliver social value providing important outlets for the military community and their families as well as promoting physical and mental health”. Through the sponsorship Leidos will support the ARU as it promotes and fosters the game of rugby within the Army and its local communities. As part of the sponsorship, the ARU’s elite teams will carry Leidos’ logo on the back of their shirts. Leidos will also be the headline sponsor of the Men’s Community 7s and Women’s Community Rugby.

“We’re delighted that Leidos is partnering with us for the next three years as principal sponsor to our Community 7s programme,” said Colonel Giles Malec, Director of Sponsorships at the Army Rugby Union. “Knowing that we’ll continue to benefit from Leidos’ support means we can continue to provide our military community with opportunities to engage in a fun and competitive environment away from the challenges of their day job, while helping strengthen bonds with fellow service personnel.”

Leidos’ logo will also be worn on the back of Army Representative team shirts, with Leidos branding visible pitch-side at all ARL matches. The women’s side is particularly strong with three Army Rugby League Women's Senior XIII players selected to represent the England Community Lions Women squad.

“It gives Army Rugby League great pleasure in announcing sponsorship and support from Leidos,” said Major General Richard Spencer, President of the Army Rugby League. “This sort of support is vital to the delivery of a professional set up to allow soldiers to excel at sport and this year we are also keen to work with Leidos to focus on Armed Forces Day and the Remembrance fixtures in the North of England which is the heart of our Rugby League. Leidos are an amazing sponsor who support other military sports and we are really pleased to be part of that on-going support. We collectively aim to build a strong relationship together and it is an exciting time for Army Rugby League and Leidos as we identify opportunities that benefit engagement in the North of England.”

Both Army Rugby partnerships are part of Leidos’ growing global sports sponsorship portfolio, which also include the Glasgow Warriors in Scotland, and the Baltimore Ravens, Old Glory D.C., Washington Wizards, Washington Capitals, and the Aberdeen Ironbirds in the United States. Leidos is also an official sponsor of NASCAR's Bubba Wallace and the No. 23 Toyota Camry.
