Mission Software Centre backs Australian talent for secure, mission-focused software

Melbourne, Australia (20 April 2026) - Leidos Australia today launched its Mission Software Centre, evolving its existing Software Factory to better support Federal Government and Defence customers with mission‑focused software solutions.

The Centre brings together bespoke software development, secure cloud environments and an AI innovation lab to support Australia’s most critical systems.  It also reinforces Leidos Australia’s commitment to local tech talent while delivering modern, secure, software at speed.

Operating across public cloud and highly secure private networks, the Centre enables teams to build, test and deploy solutions across all classifications more efficiently, while maintaining strict security and industry best practices.  Customers can also leverage the environment to undertake their own software development activities.

Leidos Australia continues to expand its workforce, with new roles open for systems administrators, software developers and cyber security professionals supporting mission critical programs.

Approximately three-quarters of the company’s 2000 employees hold technical roles, working across the Mission Software Centre, as well as Leidos and customer sites.  The company also collaborates with local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to support program delivery and niche mission software capabilities.

Quote attributable to Leidos Australia Chief Executive, Paul Chase: “Building sovereign capability starts with enabling our people.  The Mission Software Centre is about growing local technical and engineering talent so we can respond at speed, iterate safely and operate confidently in complex settings. Ultimately, it’s about leading innovation so we can deliver for our customers and meet their mission needs.”
