Leidos climbs the Fortune 500

Leidos climbed to No. 248 in the 2021 Fortune 500 rankings released this week, gaining 41 spots from its previous ranking at No. 289. It’s the company's 21st appearance on the list, which is in its 67th running.
Why you should know: The pandemic has had dramatic effects on the world’s economy, which is evident in the rankings. Technology was the top rising sector, gaining $19 billion.
From the source: “The global pandemic and resulting lockdowns around the world threw the economy into chaos,” according to the publishers. “It also accelerated digital disruption, boosting Big Tech.”
Specifics: The list ranks U.S. corporations by total revenue in 2020:
- Leidos reported revenue of almost $12.28 billion, a 10.8% increase from the previous year.
- Leidos ranks No. 26 in the technology sector.
- Leidos ranks No. 5 in the IT services industry.
Zooming out: It’s the latest in a series of major recognitions for Leidos, which also ranks as one of America’s most ethical companies, most admired companies, best employers, best employers for diversity and best employers for Veterans.
