Haley Fail Finds the Right Fit at Leidos
In search of a fresh start, Haley Fail found what she was looking for at Leidos. While she had previously held positions with a consulting firm, she found herself feeling unconnected to her organization. “I wasn’t getting the feedback I wanted and I felt pretty disengaged,” said Haley. So when a buyout opportunity presented itself, Haley left. The time away from her previous position gave her the opportunity to consider what she truly wanted in a career – well beyond everyday tasks. She knew what she wanted it to feel like when she came to work.
She accepted a temporary contract with Leidos as a GIS technician where her work supported the company’s utility clients. Not only did she gain valuable exposure to the energy market, but it gave her and Leidos the chance to explore whether this was a good fit. And it was.
Haley quickly demonstrated the value that she brought to the company, and it was clear that she was a strong performer. Mid-way through the contract, Haley was converted to a full-time position with Leidos. She moved into a supervisory role after one month, and she hasn’t looked back since.
Exceptional growth in a supportive environment
Haley currently manages a distribution engineering program for a large utility client. When she was given the opportunity to lead the program, she had some initial self-doubt. She was driven to prove herself but also found the work environment at Leidos supportive of her growth. Asking questions was encouraged, and she drew upon the relationships she had built to increase her knowledge. In this new role, Haley has excelled at navigating an uncertain challenge and crafting it into a successful program that has continually delivered results for the client.

She talks about the mutual trust that she has experienced here at Leidos. “I realized that when I identified a problem, I knew that my manager was going to listen to me and give me the freedom to solve it because he knew I could deliver.”
Not one to wait for opportunities, Haley has found many avenues to fully explore interesting projects and learn advanced technologies such as SkywireTM, an AI-enabled distribution design tool.
But beyond the professional opportunities, Haley has found the environment at Leidos to be exactly what she wanted – and didn’t find at her previous job. “Leidos has given me so many opportunities for professional growth,” she added. “It’s been an encouraging and supportive place for me to prove what I’m capable of.”
